The three pieces call for E-flat, B-flat and bass clarinet in order and depict the three ages of man. In keeping with the theme, the forms of the pieces is very different; rather improvisatory (I), straight (II) and associative-fragmentary (III). A well playable mixture of traditional and contemporary notation. The instrumental studies, which won a composition prize, are imaginative and attractively done.
